CHINA Guangzhou 〜Rain in the Concession Area and Shamian Island.

Guangzhou, China is the third largest city after Beijing and Shanghai.
Within the changing city, chaotic with people, dust and exhaust; the concession area towers rise majestically in tribute to the vestiges of time.

Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Never-ending car horns.
Squeaky bicycle brakes…
The distant sound of a man’s angry voice… The chaotic sounds quietly fade-out,
from within the darkness,
it seems a Gregorian chant could emanate at any moment,
and a pale purple sunset descends.

Upon crossing a bridge from the hustle and bustle of the city, over a river the likes of the Meguro river, you are instantly met with a different atmosphere.
The Shamian Island area exudes Concessions.
Although bearing the name “Shamian Island”, this is not an island.
However that bridge appears to mark the boundary between 2014 and 1914.
