Black Raku tea bowl.

Black was thought to be an ominous color, and it was said that Toyotomi Hideyoshi disliked black tea bowls. However, the glossy black skin appears to be a dark brown to the untrained eye.

The unique seal (pottery mark) is the signature of his later works.
Currently on loan to my parents’ house. Return date unknown.
