Asia To a Monochrome Sky ❷ Macau

The Ruins of St. Paul’s, Macau. The church itself turned to ashes long ago, but the facade remains as a relic of Macau. At the end of a long, steep path towers a slab that, although having lost its depth, still stands tall and majestic.

Adjacent to the St. Paul’s church. The history of Fortaleza do Monte lay in the time when, under the Portuguese military, invading Dutch military troops were forced to retreat. Looking at the fortress today, it is hard to believe that it was a fortress as all. It faces the most eye-catching, gorgeous hotel in Macau, “Grand Lisboa Macau”. On a side note, my personal history at the Grand Lisboa takes place in the hotel casino where I promptly lost 10,000 yen in 20 minutes.
